UltraTech Cement Limited has announced a senior management change with the appointment of Ashish Chandra as Chief Manufacturing Officer (Designate). The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors based on the recommendation of the Nomination, Remuneration and Compensation Committee.
Ashish Chandra will join UltraTech Cement’s senior management as a Senior Management Personnel (SMP) from September 16, 2026. He will initially serve as Chief Manufacturing Officer (Designate) and will take over the full responsibilities of Chief Manufacturing Officer from April 1, 2027.
The leadership transition follows the planned relinquishment of the position by the company’s current Chief Manufacturing Officer, E R Raj Narayanan, on March 31, 2027. The Board has expressed its appreciation for Raj Narayanan’s service and contribution to UltraTech Cement and the Aditya Birla Group.
Ashish Chandra Brings Over 33 Years of Manufacturing Experience
Ashish Chandra brings more than 33 years of experience in the manufacturing industry. During his career, he has held leadership positions in large-scale manufacturing operations, project execution and operational transformation.
One of his notable professional contributions was his involvement in the development of India’s first 980 MPa cold-rolled steel. He has also authored eight technical publications and holds five granted patents.
Chandra holds a mechanical engineering degree from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. He has also completed the Senior Leadership Programme at Brown University.
Leadership Transition at UltraTech Cement
The planned transition will allow Ashish Chandra to work alongside the existing leadership before assuming the full responsibilities of Chief Manufacturing Officer in April 2027.
UltraTech Cement Strengthens Manufacturing Leadership
The appointment comes as UltraTech Cement continues to expand and strengthen its manufacturing operations. With extensive experience in manufacturing, project execution and operational transformation, Ashish Chandra is expected to bring significant industry expertise to the company’s manufacturing leadership.
UltraTech Cement also confirmed that Ashish Chandra has no familial relationship with any of the company’s directors.
The company stated that the appointment is part of its planned leadership transition, with Chandra assuming the full role of Chief Manufacturing Officer from April 1, 2027.
