UltraTech Cement has commissioned its ₹2,650 crore Petnikota Cement Works in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district, strengthening its manufacturing capacity in the region. The integrated facility has a cement dispatch capacity of 3.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and a clinkerization capacity of 3.3 MTPA.

Plant Commissioned Within 14 Months

Located in Petnikota village in the Kolimigundla mandal of the Rayalaseema region, the plant’s construction began in May 2025. It was commissioned within 14 months of the groundbreaking ceremony. The project is expected to generate direct employment for 650 people and indirect employment for another 2,000.

Focus on Green Energy and Sustainable Manufacturing

The plant features a 35 MW hybrid wind and solar power system with battery storage, along with a 20 MW waste heat recovery system. It is designed to operate using 100% green energy without a captive thermal power plant. The facility also incorporates water conservation and recycling measures to avoid groundwater use.

Additional features include systems for using plastic and municipal waste as alternative fuels, electric vehicles for mining and clinker transportation, and covered raw material storage. The plant will also manufacture composite cement using slag and fly ash.

Advanced Automation and Digital Technology

Petnikota Cement Works includes an automated robotic laboratory for sampling and testing, real-time material analysis systems, RFID-based vehicle tracking, and unmanned weighbridges. These technologies are designed to improve production efficiency, quality control, and logistics management.

The commissioning strengthens UltraTech Cement’s presence in Andhra Pradesh while supporting regional industrial development and employment generation. The project also reflects the company’s focus on expanding cement production capacity through renewable energy, resource conservation, and automated manufacturing processes.
