Tata Steel reported a 10% year-on-year (YoY) increase in crude steel production in India to 6.21 million tonnes during the second quarter of the financial year 2026–27 (Q2 FY27). The company also recorded a 15% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) rise in domestic steel deliveries to 5.97 million tonnes, reflecting improved operational performance and steady demand across key market segments. According to the company’s provisional operational update released on October 7, 2026, higher production at its Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar facilities contributed to the increase in output. The production figures include Tata Steel’s standalone operations and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited on a pro forma basis. India’s crude steel production reached 6.21 million tonnes in Q2 FY27, compared with 5.64 million tonnes in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year and 5.76 million tonnes in Q1 FY27. This represented an 8% sequential increase and a 10% annual rise. Domestic steel deliveries stood at 5.97 million tonnes, up 7% from 5.55 million tonnes in Q2 FY26 and 15% from 5.17 million tonnes in the previous quarter. The company attributed the growth to an improved product mix and stable demand across market segments despite seasonal rains. For the first half of FY27, Tata Steel India’s crude steel production increased 10% YoY to 11.97 million tonnes, compared with 10.87 million tonnes in the same period last year. Domestic deliveries rose 8% to 11.14 million tonnes from 10.30 million tonnes. Tata Steel’s Automotive and Special Products vertical recorded its best-ever second-quarter delivery volume of approximately 1.1 million tonnes, marking a 19% YoY increase. Growth was supported by the ramp-up of Continuous Annealing and Galvanising lines at Kalinganagar and the Combi mill at Jamshedpur. The Branded Products and Retail vertical also achieved record quarterly deliveries of approximately 2.2 million tonnes. Tata Tiscon recorded its highest-ever quarterly volumes, growing 7% QoQ, while Tata Kosh deliveries increased 25% QoQ. The Construction and Solutions vertical delivered approximately 0.6 million tonnes, with ready-to-use solutions registering 32% YoY growth. Meanwhile, the Engineering and Packaging vertical recorded deliveries of around 0.4 million tonnes, up 12% QoQ, supported by higher sales to the oil and gas sector. Downstream products, including cold-rolled steel, galvanised products, tubes, tinplate, wires and colour-coated products, continued to grow. The Colors segment achieved its highest-ever quarterly volume, increasing 34% QoQ. Tata Steel’s digital sales platforms, Aashiyana and DigECA, recorded a combined gross merchandise value (GMV) of ₹2,860 crore during Q2 FY27. This represented a 30% increase compared with the previous quarter, highlighting continued growth in the company’s digital sales channels. Tata Steel’s international operations reported mixed results during the quarter. In the Netherlands, liquid steel production stood at 1.52 million tonnes, compared with 1.67 million tonnes in Q2 FY26. Deliveries reached 1.30 million tonnes against 1.54 million tonnes a year earlier. The Direct Sheet Plant in the Netherlands restarted in August 2026 and was operating at rated capacity under the framework agreed with local regulatory authorities. In the UK, deliveries declined to 0.38 million tonnes from 0.57 million tonnes in the corresponding quarter last year. The company attributed the decline to inventory build-up across the UK supply chain ahead of new safeguard measures that came into effect on July 1, 2026. Tata Steel also reported that production at the Llanwern pickle line had been fully ramped up. In Thailand, saleable steel production stood at 0.32 million tonnes, while deliveries reached 0.31 million tonnes. Deliveries were marginally lower sequentially, primarily due to heavy rainfall in September.Tata Steel Records Growth in Production and Deliveries
