The Aditya Birla Group has announced the launch of Ultravolt, its new wires and cables business, marking the Group’s fourth new business venture in the last three years. Backed by an investment of ₹1,800 crore and housed under UltraTech Cement Limited, Ultravolt aims to become one of the top two players in the industry within five years. At launch, it will be the second-largest player in the wires segment by capacity. UltraTech’s entry into the wires and cables market expands its Building Solutions portfolio beyond grey cement, ready-mix concrete, white cement, and building products, while strengthening its presence in home building, infrastructure, and electrification. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group, said that wires and cables are at the center of India’s next growth phase, driven by urbanization, electrification, and digitization. He highlighted that over 100 million new homes, expanding energy infrastructure, and the rapid growth of data centers are expected to fuel demand in the sector. He also noted that successful new business creation has become a key part of the Group’s growth strategy. Dilip Gaur, Director, Ultravolt, said the company is entering the market with a pan-India strategy, targeting more than 1 lakh retailers and leveraging over 5,000 UltraTech Building Solutions (UBS) outlets. The initial rollout will cover 500+ districts and 6,000 pin codes, supported by a network of more than 20 warehouses. He added that UltraTech’s relationships with home builders, contractors, developers, and EPC companies will help accelerate growth. The business is anchored by a new manufacturing facility at Jhagadia in Bharuch district, Gujarat, a location chosen to support efficient nationwide logistics and distribution. Sriram Rangarajan, CEO, Ultravolt, said the company is launching with a portfolio of home wires, flexible wires, and cables for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure applications. He added that Ultravolt plans to adopt a consumer-first approach focused on safety, performance, and future-readiness, while expanding into electrical accessories over time. Ultravolt is also introducing an electrician engagement program focused on product knowledge, safety, and installation standards. The company has already onboarded 1,600+ electricians before launch and aims to train more than 40,000 electricians over the next year under the Skill India program in partnership with ESSCI.
